The W55RP20-S2E is a pre-programmed variant of WIZnet's W55RP20 System-in-Package, supplied with serial-to-Ethernet firmware and a unique MAC address from the WIZnet OUI block. The W55RP20-S2E enables a UART or SPI device to communicate over Ethernet without writing networking firmware: data sent on the serial side is transmitted as TCP/IP packets, and TCP/IP data received over the network is delivered back to the serial side. Configuration is available via AT commands, the WIZS2E Config Tool or the integrated web interface; firmware can be updated over-the-air. The same firmware is used in WIZnet's WIZ-IP20 Serial-to-Ethernet module. Operation is supported in TCP server, TCP client, TCP mixed and UDP (multicast) modes, with built-in MQTT/MQTTS, SSL TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII protocol handlers. RS-232C and RS-422/485 communication can be implemented by adding the appropriate transceiver circuitry. The chip is housed in the same 8 × 8 mm 68-pin QFN package as the W55RP20.
